I got an AS/400 a few months ago but I've still not got the terminal to
work. I have an AS/400 F10 9404 and an IBM InfoWindow 3476 which I'm
trying to connect to my AS/400. I have 2(two) twinax cables connected to
the InfoWindow terminal and in the other end I got this twinax "hub" with
8-ports. I've connected the cables to port 0 and 1. The "hub" is connected
to the AS/400 in the only port where it fits, a parallellport like port. I
have the terminal switched on when I'm starting the AS/400 but I can't
get it to work. When I start the AS/400 the power on led blinks several
times and then the System Attention led starts to light. The LCD-display
shows Function: 11 and Data: 0000 000C.

Best regards,

Connect only 1 cable, to port 0, disconnect the other.
Switch the terminal off
Switch it on while holding thw space bar, setup menu should appear.
Setup the terminal address as line 0 port 0, save it, exit

I still get the screen with the cursor in the top right corner. :(

But I can't set the terminal address to line 0 port 0. It just says:

Display Address..... 0 1 2 3 4 5 6
And I choose 0. And Character Set to Country Specific.

Choose Address 0 with space bar (press space when you are on the 0).
Next your terminal should be connected to port 0 on the "hub".

You can change LCD panel to "01 B N".
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/index.htm
Go to Hardware on the left and then Control Panel. On the Right pane
choose "Instructions and descriptions for control panel functions"
and the "Normal control Panel Function" at the bottom.

With Function 02 you can change next IPL.
So on the display set 02 B N and press Enter.

Function 01 is Display selected IPL.
So after that you should see "01 B N"

That didn't help much either. The terminal is connected to port 0 and
configured to use port 0. The AS/400 says 01 B in Manual mode. (I can't
use function 02 in any other mode than Manual).

If it's easier to add me to ICQ feel free to do so. # 16626833

If the Terminal is attached correctly (and assuming there is no other
hardware issue) then the cursor will move from the top right to the top left
during the as400's boot. If this isn't happening then you're not connecting.

I solved the problem. (Atleast it works.) I changed the Unit Emergency
switch to ON. I'm not sure what this is doing or if it's the right thing
to do, but atleast the AS/400 booted up and everything is working.

Thanks for all your help guys!
