Hi,

I'm a newbie with the iSeries 250 AS400 v5 rl. So far everything has
been working as it should, but here's the problem.

1) I can no longer ping the AS400. The link light on the hub and NIC
all appear working, so it appears that TCP.IP is not loaded even
though it should load on boot up

2) I cannot access the AS400 via 'AS/400 Operations console' as it
states that the Service Tools User is disabled. I know that the
Qsecofr account works, but again it won't let me in with this account.
When I could connect via Client Access over TCP\IP, I was able to
logon as Qsecofr.

Can someone give me some pointers, workaround, back door etc to gain
access to the AS400. My only other option is to rebuild and I have
never done that before and how would I do it if I could not connect
to/see it!

Help!

John

Try issuing the STRTCP command.

The DST user ID's are DIFFERENT from normal signon IDs so there are 2
QSECOFR user IDs, and it is likely the passwords are different. As it has
been disabled, try the following

Using the QSECOFR ID, sign onto the system
Enter the command CHGDSTPWD *DEFAULT (this is to reset the DST passwords
back to their profiles)
Dial up option 21 from the control panel to enter DST and logon as
QSECOFR. There should be an option to change the password from there.

Be aware, that DST passwords are case sensitive and the default is upper
case.

John, thanks for the advice, but I cannot logon to the AS400 via
client access as TCP/IP is not working and the AS400 Console (via
comms lead from PC to AS400) will not allow me to connect using the
DST user. If you can tell me how I can access the system to logon to
the system, I would be most grateful.

Thanks.

Don't worry.....

I found that there are a number of standard DST users for all iSeries
boxes. I used one of those and am now accessing the AS400. FYI I used
the DST user 22222222 and the pwd is the same as the user name.
