Sorry if this is a dumb question:

I just ordered a PTF from IBM over the modem and it's coverpage is in
QAPZCOVER on QGPL. Is there anyway of sending that cover page to one of the
printers defined on the AS/400??

I can display it just fine on the GreenScreen using the DSPPFM.

Just curious,

Jim Norbut

Suggest you use DSPPTF with COVERONLY(*YES) OUTPUT(*PRINT)

CPYF FROMFILE(QGPL/QAPZCOVER)
TOFILE(*PRINT)
FROMMBR(PTF No. starts with a Q)

You could use query to print it out or in PDM use option 6 to print it.

Here's one way (others may have better suggestions):
> CPYF FROMFILE(QGPL/QAPZCOVER) TOFILE(*PRINT) FROMMBR(QTC00000)

You can use CHGJOB OUTQ( xxx ) first to route the spooled output to the
desired printer, or use option 2 (Change) of WRKSPLF afterwards.

We use the CPYF command and specify the member name for the one PTF.
Example for SF97420 would be:
CPYF FROMFILE(QGPL/QAPZCOVER)
TOFILE(*PRINT)
FROMMBR(QSF97420)

I know it's a very late response, but...
Use the DSPPTF command. Locate your PTF and use the oprion to print
the cover letter. (Probably 6 or 8).
If you want to do in a program there is an api in the Software Product
API book.
Hope this helps.

I believe you can do a DSPPTF with an option of *PRINT.

Hi Sam,

Just use PDM, option 3 on the QAPZCOVER file and print it.

Paul
