WRKOBJ *all/filename *file ..... will find it,if it's there...
will do the trick. You can also prompt it and select specific type of
objects.
Good Luck

If it's a *real* file you could run QUERY over file QSYS/QADBXREF but
*never* attempt to update it - not unless you want a dead system!
Don't know about the *other* objects
WRKOBJ *ALLUSR/MY* *ALL
There are also object type specific commands of the form WRKxxx where XXX is
the object type
For example
WRKCMD *ALL/WRK* will find all the commands that begin with WRK
WRKF *ALLUSR/MYFILE* will find all files in user libraries that begin with
MYFILE
Hope this helps

The DBM files in QSYS should not be used at all except by the system, if
possible. Instead, use the appropriate views from QSYS2. In this case, use
QSYS2/SYSTABLES.

AS/400 systems programmer
Keep in mind that even with WRKOBJ *ALL/*ALL *ALL, you have to have authority
to the object before you can find it.

What if the file-in-question is in either shared folders, or Home? I
haven't been able to find anything in that area.

A find will only let itself be performed on Drives. When one gets a search
result from a mapped drive, it'll only show itself with respect to that
mapped drive. In short, it doesn't tell you actually where the file in
question is, except regarding the mapped drive.
Which of course doesn't tell me where 'home' is, on the '400. The idea I
had was that we could save outq's to home, making file transfer a lot
simpler and quicker.
