Hello,

I am looking for an apllication that generates barcodes for my AS400
(V4R4M0). Any thoughts?

You have many choices for printing barcodes... have you considered the
following two options?

1) Your printer file source supports a BARCODE keyword which
provides for many variations of barcode printing. An IPDS printer or
IPDS capable print is necessary as well.

2) A therma or film transfer printer (I like the lowest priced
Zebra printers) can print amazing labels. All types of barcode
formats are supported, even the newer 2D barcodes used by UPS. These
printers use a printer language called ZPL (Zebra printer language),
you can look into PC pgms that will generate your ZPL for you, you can
learn ZPL yourself (it's fun), or you can hire someone like me to
write your ZPL. What you choose.

Good luck!

You have several options.

1. You can program it yourself using the BARCODE DDS spec and have IPDS
compatable printers. Even Lan attached HP printers can use this DDS.

2. Program the escape codes yourself. THis could be used with printers that
have a special set of sequences. The most common is a printronix with a QMS
board installed.

3. Get a thrid party interface. Two of the most common are:
a) EZPrint - forms generation to print to many kinds of printers. This can
also print graphics.
b) TLAshford - This is mostly used to generate labels that are printed on
several types of printers like the Zebra.

If you can send PCL (Printer Control Commands) to an HP LaserJet or
compatible printer, you can use our bar coding font sets. These bar
code fonts sit on your AS/400 computer. You send them to the printer
and then your application sends a short command to switch to the bar
coding font. Check out the free evaluation version at:
