Help. I've done a few failed disk swaps on this i520 in the past. I'm running into a problem. I use iSeries Navigator to replace failed disk. I walk through all the procedures and everything seems fine. I click finish and window pops up that says it's formatting the new disk I inserted. But no progress is being shown. There doesn't seem to be any disk activity. It kind of just sits there. WRKDSKSTS still shows the disk as failed.

Any help!!

Thanks in advance!!!!!

Just an update. The formatting window kept showing zero percent complete. I waited about 40 minutes and clicked cancel to try it again. Then another window popped saying formatting was complete and the rebuilding recovery of the array has started. Failed drive turned to rebuilding/recovery.

Since I have the new disk installed. Can I take the system down and then power it back up and the raid 5 set will automatically rebuild? I have no problem taking the system down for 20 minutes.

This should be automatic. In your previous post, you mentioned the status was rebuilding, which means it is rebuilding the drive from the RAID information. I don't know what you are trying to acheive with an IPL?
