We too have been having a problem with sessions dropping and have opened a PMR with IBM .
With us it happens most often while in SEU (however that is also what we do most).
Upon their suggestion we have implemented all but number 4 of the following. It is hopeful that the Telnet PTF is going to resolve our problem since the problem still persists.
This post is also included on the original dropped connection thread however I need to get this issue resolved quickly (and thought perhaps no one was viewing the original).
