ENDJOB and ENDJOBABN doesn't work on OS/400 4.3

we are working with AS/400 9402-436 OS/400 4.3 CUMPTF 9243 and we had a
problem that we couldn't end a job (it's status in WRKACTJOB was RUN)
with ENDJOB OPTION(*IMMED). We waited about 15 min but nothing happend
job still resists in display of WRKACTJOB with status END. The Job
wasn't ended completely. Then we tried to end job with command
ENDJOBABN, but result was the same, we couldn't end job completely.
We checked also with WRKCTLD/WRKLIND but job was shown as still active.
We couldn't fix the problem and used PWRDWNSYS OPTION(*IMMED) to end
job. Do anyone have any suggestions how we can end job easier?

We had the same problem, it was with sockets-related jobs running in QSYSWRK
(QZSCSRVS and QZRCSRVS), and I ended up IPLing to get rid of them, too. Then I
discovered that these jobs would end if I used the ENDPJ command. May or may
not help your specific situation, but it worked for me. Also at 4.3, level
9243.

I've seen similar in v4r3 and even v4r2. Seems it's always related to
one form of communications or other. What job were you having trouble
with? Depending on the work it was doing, perhaps someone can recommend
a secondary function or job that must be ended before the job in
question is ended.

thanks for your answer.
IBM customer service answered and they said, that we should remove HIPER
PTF MF23398 because it was a defetct PFT (We installed HIPER PTFs
12/17/99 and we've got problems with running job since this date). We
removed defect PTF on 12/27/99 a we haven't got problem anymore since
that date. We hope that problem is fixed now.
