I have a file that has approx. 3000 records and 100 deleted records. I was
told to copy the file with compress delteted records (*NO) and the new file
would have all the records but this didn't work for some reason. Does anyone
know how I can retrieve those deleted records?

Thanks,
Daniel

There is a freeware utility that I have on our machine that will undelete records, if you know what the RRN's of the deleted records are. It's called UNDEL. I'm not able to get onto my work network now, and I'm going on vacation Friday, maybe someone else has the source.

www.prodatacomputer.com

They have some good commercial database utility products. I could no
longer work on a AS400 without their DBU product.

They have a Retreive Deleted Records utility program (RDR).

I once downloaded it and used its one time free trial to restore some
deleted records in a file.

Check out Surveyor/400 at www.linomasoftware.com

It has a graphical undelete feature.

If you copied the file into another one without the deleted records they are
not included in the target file.

You can get back deleted records in afile with many tools. No one is
included in OS/400. I use Bradley Stone's freeware (www.wrkdbf.com).
Installed in a minute and one of the best programs that IBM never wrote.

Just to set the record straight, WRKDBF was written by Bill Reger.
However, Bradley's SPLTOOL is also one of the best programs that IBM never
wrote :-)

hi!
Your deleted records you can retrieve by means of R-STUDIO. I used
this utilities for restoring of my accidentally deleted records and
all files were restored. Look site http://www.r-tt.com for more
