I am writing a 5250 terminal emulation program which is mostly complete but
I am lacking many of the key codes such as function keys F12-F24, SYSREQ,
and others.

I have spent a considerable amount of time searching for a reference
document listing the escape codes but havn't found one yet.

If you know of such a reference I would really appreciate your help.

Rex.

Are you using Telnet VT100 or TN5250?
For TN5250 you can use the standard 5250 data stream that has native codes
for all attention keys.

Anota Java Terminal is 3270, 5250 and VT-320 terminal emulation software
package that is installed on a Web server and lets all users to use the
software using their Web browser, connect to all hosts, with all terminal
options, without installing any software on any client. System manager can
configure the software for the users, configure the options that the users
are allowed to use and monitor the usage. This implementation of host
connection reduces the installation overhead, the setup of each individual
user, the support required for end users. The end users are more productive
and ready to do their job without the usual downtime caused by software
installation and configuration problems. The software has 3270, 5250 and
VT-320 terminals support and all the high-end features users expect.

In a thread some time back I recall someone said this manual has recent
5250 datastream information:
IBM 5494 Remote Control Unit Functions Reference Manual, SC30-3533.

I could not find this online, but you can probably order it at:

Hi Per,

The following is extract of the message I've posted some time ago here,
that probably answers your question:

-------->>>>>

To start with, you need 5250 device description, which in it's latest form
is
described in the IBM manual:

http://as400bks.rochester.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/bookmgr.cmd/BOOKS/CO2E2200
/CCONTENTS

(as far as you're conerned you need Topic 14. Display Data Streams and
Topic 15. Keyboard Functions),

it would be even nice to see the original manual (there is no source on The
Net
as far as I'm aware), because that is the subset that 90% emulators
support only anyway

[1] IBM, "IBM 5250 Information Display System, Functions Reference
Manual", SA21-9247-6, March 1987.

As far as TCP/IP interface to it, you would have to refer to original
RFC1205

http://www2.rz.fh-heilbronn.de:8080/mirrors/rfc/rfc1205.txt

and a newer internet-draft

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-ietf-tn3270e-tn5250e-02.txt

for newest features (like device naming and prinitng support).

Have fun.

All IBM protocols, esp. 3270/ are extensively documented in various
CD-ROM reference sets, many/most of which are up on the 'net. Start
drilling down from an IBM SNA page or an IBM AS/400 page and you'll
get there eventually.
