The clp which executes the full system backup is QMNSAVE (and it is
retrievable).

Actually, you can do a full system backup in batch. In must be done
interactively from the console while the system is in restricted mode.

Not to say that you can't have the interactive job without having anyone
actually there.

Take a look at the Save menu - option 21
GO SAVE

As Fabio mentions, the CLP program called by option 21 is QMNSAVE
however, the CLP program which does the actual work is QMNSRBND which is
also retrievable.

You have a limitation, though, in that the SAVSYS part of the save has to be
in a restricted state, thus you can't submit the entire thing to batch. You
can, though, start it the SAVSYS at the console with a little automation,
then have the remainder of the save submitted to batch (starting a batch
subsystem after SAVSYS is completed).

KP,

A delayed full system backup command is included in Jim Sloan's TAATools.
Which, by the way, costs considerably less than SAV/400 and includes about
1,000 more additional commands to make your life much easier. TAATools, in
fact, has more commands than OS/400!

Check out http://www.taatool.com

Thanks for that Chuck,

Does TAATools re-start the sub-systems and automatically reply to any
messages that may get issued.

Correction Chuck - I agree the P05/P10 prices are more but above P20 SAV/400
is considerably cheaper as a product.

Cheers.
