Can anyone give me a quick rundown on the advantages of using QCTL vs
QBASE as controlling subsystem?

What considerations are there to switch from QBASE to QCTL? Do I have
to start additional things "manually"?

thanks,

AS/400 are shipped with QBASE as the controlling subsystem. You must (or
should) define the subsystems manually. If you switch to QCTL then the
system will automatically start the subsystems QINTER, QBATCH, QCMN, and
QSPL at IPL. QCTL is easier to manage and adminster, at least that is what
I have found.
