I've got some problems getting this printer work. The printer is connected
directly to the LAN, and has its own IP-adresse.
I know how to use the CRTDEVPRT command, but I haven't got all the
parameters right, since it's not working. The spool-files in the out-queue
are going in *HLD after I've tried to release them from the queue.
Can someone help me????

There are different ways to connect a MFP to the AS400. And from my
little experience I was not always successful in connecting them to
the AS400.
Basically you should check the printserver handbook. Perhaps there a
some examples on how to use it in different OS.
Some of them are able to use Port 9100, then you can define them like
this.
CRTDEVPRT DEVD(PRTDC2130) DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(3812)
MODEL(1) LANATTACH(*IP) PORT(9100) ONLINE(*YES)
FONT(011 *NONE) TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*HP4)
PPRSRC1(*A4) PPRSRC2(*A4) RMTLOCNAME('ip-address')
SYSDRVPGM(*HPPJLDRV) TEXT('TA DC-2130')
or you can/have to use LPR
CRTOUTQ OUTQ(QGPL/PRTDC2130) RMTSYS(*INTNETADR)
RMTPRTQ('RAW or PR1 or LPT1 or PCL') AUTOSTRWTR(1)
CNNTYPE(*IP) DESTTYPE(*OTHER) MFRTYPMDL(*HP4)
INTNETADR('1.1.1.1') DESTOPT('XAIX XAUTOQ')
SEPPAGE(*NO) TEXT('TA DC2130')
As you can see I always start with HP4 Emulation, but its not always
working. If your MFP can use postscript you could also try *HP5SI.
Again, perhaps it is written in your machine handbook if it can
emulate other printers and then you can choose in the OS400
configuration what suits best.
Depending on your OS you can order PTF to expand the support HPT
models.

(TA not in this list... oups)

A special "thank you!" to ibm for its highly dynamic internet and
extremly nice urls ;-)
Thanks for the advice! I've tried the *HP4 emulation(not working), so I'll
try the *HP5SI first thing tomorrow.
The customer had Cumulative PTF from 03364, so I think they have to order
and install the latest PTF.
The customer did not want to use LPR! But if that's the only solution
working, they have to!!
Best regards

I downloaded the Windows driver for this MFP from the Triumph-Adler
web site. By checking the "About" tab, I learned that it is using a
Kyocera Mita printer engine. This means the device is definitely
compatible with the PCL 5e and PCL 6 output formats provided by OS/400
Host Print Transform function.
Kyocera Mita engines can be used with a number of different Ethernet
NIC interfaces. The interface used determines some of the
bi-directional capabilities of the printer. It is possible that the
2130 does not offer bi-directional PJL support. If this is true, the
OS/400 System Driver Program *HPPCLDRV will not work.
You could check with Triumph-Adler support to see what TCP port the
MFP uses to listen for SNMP queries. You could then change the port
number in the OS/400 printer device description to match the SNMP port
number and change the System Driver Program to *IBMSNMPDRV. With these
two changes, you should be able to begin printing and will not have to
use LPR as the transport method.

Thanks for the advice! The printer is up running, but I've got another
problem!!!
The tray-selection is not working properly! The customer want to print out
from tray number 1, but the printer chooses no. 2 instead of. Is this a
AS400-problem, or is it a printer-setup-problem?
Thanks in advance!

Here is your tray selection information. The PCL printer language uses
two criteria for selecting an input tray. The most important criteria
is the active paper size, while the second most important criteria is
the paper cassete selection number.
As an example, the first thing a user prints after turning the printer
on is an envelope. The active paper size set in the printer is now
envelope. If your application doesn't reset the active paper size to a
different value (like A4), you won't be able to get the printer to do
anything but pull envelope media for all the print jobs you send to
it.
The IBM iSeries and AS/400 hosts always send a paper size command with
each job that is processed by the OS/400 host print transform
function. For input trays 1 and 2, the paper size command sent is
frequently tied to the paper source entries made in the OS/400 printer
device description for the target printer.
Assuming your applications are calling for a media size installed in
the target input trays of the Triumph-Adler 2130, you will only need
to customize the Host Print Transform driver you have selected (called
making a Workstation Customization Object) to use the TA 2130 input
cassette numbering scheme.
The PCL commands in the Host Print Transform drivers are stored in
hexadecimal notation. The command to select an input tray by cassette
number is 1B 26 6C xx 48, where xx equals the hex value or values for
the input tray cassette number of the tray you want to activate.
TA 2130 Cassette Numbers as follows:
Cassette One - 14 hex values 31 34
Cassette Two - 3 hex value 33
Cassette Three - 2 hex value 32
Cassette Four - 257 hex values 32 35 37
LCC - 263 hex values 32 36 33
Bypass - 4 hex value 34
If you need further information on how to customize an AS/400 or
iSeries host print transform print driver, the IBM technical support
web site can be of assistance
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/wp?OpenView&CollapseView
From this page, choose the category "Network Print from iSeries" to
find the information you require.

But I haven't reach the goal yet.... The tray-selection is not working. My
customer tries to print out to tray 1 and 2, but the TA just prints out from
tray number 2, which is the default.
First of all: Where did you find the information about TA Cassette Numbers?
And here is what I have done:
Used the RTVWSCST, and picked the model *HP5SI.
Edited the source, so it looked like this: (The only thing I edited, was the
hex-code in DATA)
:ADDDRWTBL.
:ADDDRWTBLE
NUMBER= 3
DATA ='1B266C3248'X
:ADDDRWTBLE
NUMBER= 4
DATA ='1B266C32353748'X.
Then, used the CRTWSCST-command to create the Workstation Customization
Object. Put it in <mylib>
Here is the *DEVD:

Question is: What is wrong????? The printer job is not ending as well, so if
i use option 8 on the DEVD, the job is still there, but the job is finished
on the printer.....
Thanks in advance!!

Your thought process is totally correct! I see one small
implementation difficulty in your posting.
Your entry MFRTYPMDL(*HP5SI) needs to be changed to MFRTYPMDL(*WSCST).
After you tell the IBM operating system to look for a customized print
driver, it will then accept the entry you have put into the WSCST
field. If you don't specify *WSCST in the MFRTYPMDL field, it uses the
system default driver you have specified instead.
I found the tray settings by downloading the Universal Windows print
driver for the TA 2130. The driver name that appeared on my PC was CD
1030/DC 2130KX.
I installed the PCL 5e driver and then right clicked on the print
driver icon and selected properties from the dialog box that appeared.
Under the Device Settings tab there was a radio button named
Compatibility. When you press the button, you get a new dialog box
with the PCL 5e tray numbers used by the TA 2130 for PCL 5e
application compatibility.
Because the printer engine in the TA 2130 is from Kyocera Mita, the
Windows driver uses a special supplementary printer language known as
Prescribe to select input trays when processing Windows application
input. The compatibility mode is for other applications (like MS-DOS
or an IBM AS/400 or iSeries), which send PCL input tray selections.
