I have two AS/400's one Development Machine and another Production
Machine. I do regular transfer between these two systems manually. I save
the program of Files in a save file , and then by ftp or sendnetf file send
it to the production system. I then log on to the production system and
restore them manually. If the object already exsits it over writes in case
of programs , but files I have delete the old objects and then restore it.
Is any one done any automation program were in I just log on to one system
and I do ftp then I get or put and all other process should have completed
automatically.

There is a way to do all operations from your source box
using SBMNETJOB command:
1. Save all necessary objects into the save file
2. Either manually or programmatically create source member
like
//BCHJOB JOB(..........) LOG(4 20 *NOLIST) JOBQ(*JOBD)
JOBD(QPGMR) JOBPTY(8)
CRTSAVF QTEMP/..........
RCVNETF .......... TOFILE(QTEMP/..........)
USER(........)
RSTOBJ OBJ(*ALL) SAVLIB(..........) DEV(*SAVF)
SAVF(QTEMP/..........) +
MBROPT(*ALL) ALWOBJDIF(*ALL)
SNDNETMSG MSG('Restoration is complete: ..........') +
TOUSRID((........ ........))
//ENDBCHJOB
(Put appropreate values instead '.....')
3. Send save file to the destination box using SNDNETF
4. SBMNETJOB (specify file and member created on step 3)
5. Wait for complete message 'Restoration is complete ...'

While FTP is nice for sending files accross machines in a manual way (ok,
you can write scripts), SNADS is still much more advanced and usefull
between two AS/400s. (can run over IP as well)
