I need to get some AS/400 prints into a format that I can e-mail out. Is
there a quick and easy way of doing this?

Thanks,

J.

We use cpysplf to generate a flat format text document & mail that direct
from the as400. I find that use of an attachment name *.doc is sufficient to
fool both MS-Word & the users of that program into beleiving its a word
document. If you have users who can think for themselves you dont need an
extention to the attachment name at all (this seems unlikely to me though).

Check out my SPLTOOL utility at www.bvstools.com. It formats SCS
spooled files into RTF documents retaining pages, underline and bold.
There is a .doc option but that isn't as full featured as the RTF option.

The reason for this is RTF is an open format and works in Word and other
WPs. .doc is proprietary as far as I can tell.

It will also do PDF, and HTML. With the HTML option you could then use
my MAILTOOL utility to set the HTML document as the body of the email
message (works with TXT as well.)

Hi John,

I have an alternate solution. My software, OctoTools and OctoPDF/OctoBurst
are serever based and take the text/report output from just about any
platform, most commonly AS/400's, land automatically converts to PDF and can
email the documents taking address information right from the data or from
an associated list. It is commercial software and is aimed at production
level, unattended operations. Give me a call 978 535-7676 or email, larry
(remove for nospam) @jmbsystems.com for additonal information, case studies,
and a demo.

Thanks for your time.

only) formats and email (via SMTP) the resulting document
automatically. You can contact me at <dfo...@pdfing.com>

Hi John

I can highly recommend the PDFing product. It is actively being
developed and Dave is always open to suggestions.

The other really good thing is that Dave is based in the UK.

Cheers
