I believe the signon is also QSECOFR
So
QSECOFR
QSECOFR
We have a new Model 170 which is due to be installed this coming weekend.
When we tried to sign on after the first IPL, it rejected the QSECOFR
password of QSECOFR. Someone suggested it did not like the 3477 screen so
we changed it for a 3197. Same problem. Then we reset the system password
but to no avail. Eventually the QSECOFR profile got disabled so there was
no option but to reload the operating system. The new problem is that it
doesn't think either screen is the console, so when we try to IPL we get a
processor light and SRC A9002000.
Has anyone any suggestions as to how to get out of this? Would an IPL from
CD achieve anything?
Here's hoping

You're making this too hard. Three weeks ago I installed a new 170.
I thought the problem with QSECOFR's password was just my 'fat fingers',
anyway it got disabled. Manual powerdown, Manual IPL, DST to
Enter Password
SRC A900200 means successful IPL, the attention light means
the console wasn't available. Cable loose, terminal broke or
turned off. Make sure the cursor moves from upper right to
upper left corner when the system comes up, this means terminal
is connected. RTFM.
Basic System Operation, Administration, and Problem
Handling has instructions for powerdown from the panel and
manual IPL. During the Manual IPL you can enter DST and use
the QSECOFR's password. Instructions are in the manuals that
came with my system .
I don't know the terms of your purchase but normally
there's free telephone support for 30 or 90 days on a new system
(purchased from IBM).
There is no reason to reload the system, OS/400 is not
Windows.

Is your DSP01 address 0 (zero) and connected to port 0 (zero) ?
DSP01 doesn't means much if you've auto-config.

Ok have you tried to enable the user profile for QSECOFR
With CHGUSRPRF while you're in DST? If the display comes up as
DSP01 you've got the right address on the right port. If it
comes up with a signon display, what do you mean by 'falls about'?
I've only done it three times in the last 20 years, so I
don't remember the exact sequence, but all I did, was follow
the instructions, I think I had to IPL twice once because I
didn't enable QSECOFR before I IPL'd.

Many thanks for your interest but I will be glad when this installation is
over.

You should use the RSTLICPGM command with LNG(*SAVVOL) parameter instead
of LNG(*PRIMARY) that's the default. This will probably create the
library QSYS2924 and you should manually list this name in the QSYSLIBL
system value. Try with WRKSYSVAL QSYSLIBL command and take option 2 to
change the list.
