Note that I ended up using IBM's overlay utility, which is part of the
AFP Utilities LICPGM, to create my overlay. I was unable to do it from a
Windows application via the IBM AFP driver because the alignment was
never quite right. The invoice is designed to print at 8 lines to the
inch, therefore the location of the shaded box for every other line
needed to be quite exact.
Lastly, you can do different levels of greyness via the overlay utility,
but the number of levels and their appearances are dependent upon the
resolution of your printer. I had to use a 600dpi resolution to get my
lines to be as light as I wanted them.

We have never used the overlay utility. But if no other way(s) are possible, we
will need to know how to do it.
We scanned all possible resources on this but could not find any way to create the
shading dynamically, during printing of the document(s).
