Here in Hong Kong, the standard size of paper is A4 instead of Letter
but the default paper size described on all the printer files on the
AS/400 is Letter. Every time we print, the panel of the printer shows
"PC Load Letter" and it refuse to print until timeout. On the PC
printer emulation program, we can override the page size. Is there a
simular way to do it with the LPD? The font size becomes smaller and
hard to read. How can I enlarge it? A separation page is printed on
every spool file even the separation page on the remote printer is set
to '0'. It seems that the page is generated by the JetAdmin card.

I understand that one can retrieve the source file from the WSCT file,
amend and recompile it. But I'm not sure whether it is a good
solution and I also don't have the reference manual. It there
anybody, especially in Europe or Far East, faced such a problem and
know how to solve it?

Thanks in advanced.

Cheers :)

Assuming you are using TCP/IP, you can telnet to the JetDirect and
configure, which is where you can probably fix the seperation page problem.
I don't remember if there is anything in there about page size.

If your not running TCP/IP, you should probably be able to get to it using
the Windows driver disk that (should have) came with it. It let's you do
all the configuring you could have done if you telnetted to it.

Hope that helps

JetDirect does add a banner page. To turn off; telnet to jetdirect,
enter a couple times to get prompt, type banner: 0, type ? to see
that your change was successful, type quit to save and exit.

Creat a Data Area with CRTDTAARA
Data Area=QTMPLPR
Library=QTCP
Type=*CHAR
Length=1 No Decimal positions
Initial Value='N'
Text Descritpion='Prevents Banner Page On All LPR Printers'

To disable the banner on the JetDirect itself, telnet to it, enter the
command BANNER=0

Of course, if you have the password enabled you'll need to enter it
first...
