I have a situation where I need to provide CA95 access to our AS/400 from
the internet through our ISDN connection. The current setup looks like this:

Internet to
Ascend Pipeline 75 to
NT4.0 with IIS4.0 and Proxy2.0 (Multi-homing setup) to
internal ethernet network including our AS/400

Has anyone done or is anyone doing anything along these lines?

Any suggestions?

TIA!

Hi - I am currently waiting on my AWICS Internet connection to be set-up by
ATT. I then will be implementing :

Internet to
NT via Proxy Server to
internal Ethernet LAN w/AS400 on the line.

Your situation sounds familiar -
Do you need IIS to accomplish a remote connection???

I would appreciate any help and pointers that you could pass on.

Good Luck - and keep me posted

Shouldn't unless Proxy needs it for something. We already have IIS installed
so I don't know if Proxy runs without it. <shrug>

I have set up a proxy solution to access my AS/400 using the relayd software
for UNIX that redirects the ports that Client Access needs to communicate
with the AS/400. It works just fine. there are 10 ports that need to be
redirected.

To connect I give the IP address of my proxy server.

There should be a software like this for NT as well. If not, it shouldn't
be diffecult to compile.

I'm trying the same thing...(same setup, minus the proxy server).
Unfortunately, my firewall kills the traffic. With no firewall the
connection works great. (Not very practical, though.) Straight telnet
(WIN/95, shareware etc.) works fine.(?)
Anybody know what the AS/400 is looking for that the wall might be
stripping out?

I have added the following services to my unix box that i redirect to my
AS/400.

as-servermap 449/tcp #AS Server Mapper
as-servermap 449/udp #AS Server Mapper
as-2 8470/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-2 8470/udp #AS cawin something...
as-central 8471/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-central 8471/udp #AS cawin something...
as-database 8472/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-database 8472/udp #AS cawin something...
as-dtaq 8473/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-dtaq 8473/udp #AS cawin something...
as-file 8474/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-file 8474/udp #AS cawin something...
as-netprt 8475/tcp #AS cawin something...
as-netprt 8475/udp #AS cawin something...
as-rmtcmd 8476/tcp
as-rmtcmd 8476/udp
as-signon 8477/tcp
as-signon 8477/udp

I also changed the telnet-port from 23 to 230 since I use the UNIX via telnet
also. It's just a setting in the 5250 emulator included with Client Access.
