Dear all.

I've done quickly a new version of my background program.

Reminder: This program will display a picture in the background of your
HP49 in every applications. It's using the built-in greyscale feature
of the HP49...

This new version is fully in SystemRPL and ML (no UserRPL code anymore)
and handle the case where the graphic can be at an even address.

This program is completely useless. And as every completely useless
program it is indispensable :)

You can download it from my web site:
www.epita.fr/~avenar_j/hp/product/bckgrnd.zip

I think it is a good example on how to use MASD and some internal
features for the Filer etc..

Cheers
Jean-Yves

Hey, Jean-Yves:

Nifty program! But there are some severe problems when it's "running":

(1) The HP49G can't turn off!

(2) BEEPs sound *terrible*, like gargling!

(3) It disables PICTURE mode!

(4) It does not center the grob; it's shifted to the left by several
pixels.

(5) It makes programs run VERY slowly, and all the while the display is
updated in a sporadic fashion.

(6) Your zipfile contains a HUGE binary (bckgrnd.hp, 279K)! What on
earth is that? An archive of your whole machine? If so, does it
contain things we shouldn't see? >:-O

Other than that, it's a nifty program. I have an old-style HP logo that
looks very nice floating in the stack area.

Hello Joe.

Running background will slow down your HP calculator by 17% at most..
You can't turn it off as a new interrupt is generated every 64th a
second

BEEP, sounds bad that's true (I would say not as good :) as an
interrupt occur more often

For Picture, I know... I will have to create another version that this
time will add a user interrupt to check the screen address and disable
it when needed.

If you run the latest SysRPL version, the screen will always be
displayed correctly... I now ensure that the graphic is located at an
even address.

For the bad file in the archive, it's Emu49 that didn't save it
correctly.
I've updated the file 3 days ago.. Download it again, it will be
perfect.
