I've been trying to get programs fro hpcalc.org onto my HP50g, but I
have yet to be successful. I've got Hyper Terminal and the HP
Connectivity Kit on my computer, but I can't seem to get either to
work.

Is it the type of cord I'm using? I'm using a USB.
Which program is the easiest to use?
What type of files should I use that are on my computer/downloaded
from the hpcalc website?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've tried many
different things and still have not been successful.

Thanks,

Cameron

Hello Cameron,

I bought an SD card reader from Best Buy for about
$21.00 (USB cable included) and a 2 GB SD card
for about $14.00. Simply download the file you want
to the SD card and then slide the card into your
calculator.

HTH,

Hyperterminal can communicate via "serial" port only
(not over the USB cable)

Which "HP Connectivity Kit"?

Did you install the _driver_ for the HP USB connection?

Did you follow the directions which come with the proper
HP Connectivity Kit? What step did you get to with no problems yet,
and then what was the error message in the next step?

Read the installation instructions
which come with most downloadable packages.

Some computers have built-in card readers;
others need an external reader of any type
(even some music players double as SD card readers/writers).

Binary files can be transferred directly, using the card.

UserRPL source text often employs an "ascii mode,"
in which 8-bit characters are represented by substitutes,
e.g. \<< and \>> in place of "program delimiters";
this needs small "translator" programs (in the calculator)
to import or export from/to the SD card:

"Ascii Import/Export for SD card and Emulator"
