The big problem I had was making sure that my cable was working
properly. Make sure that it is not conflicting with another device. In
other words, pick the correct com port. Set the calculator up as a
server and then click on the computer to connect. There is a connect
button on the program. The book shows how to get the calculator into
server mode. If you still have problems, write and let me (and others)
know what they specifically are.

Hi Christopher,
that´s one way! how to do:
Connect the HP and your PC through the serial-cable.
open a terminal-pogramm and select 9600 Baud 8-N-1 (8 Bit - no parity
- 1 stopbit) Protocoll: xON xOFF, and select your com-port, and choose
X-Modem (because it´s faster than HP´s Kermit-Protocoll).
Start the HP and type a name, which you want to store the library or
other file in (at the moment).
Press Left-Shift (LS) 1 (I-O), press *next*
Then on the PC select the file you want to download (for librarys:
binary!) and send it,
then... you just press XRECV (F-key). That´s all!
Then follow the steps in the manual or in the readme.txt, that comes
with the library you want to install. (If you want to install some of
the great programms from Jack Levy I recommend to do this first,
becauce the description is very good and you learn how to install
librarys! for example take a look at MathTools7, which eases many
often used mathfunctions....)
The software that comes with the HP is self explanatory, as you think,
but it´s not necessary to buy this, because you can use every
terminal-programm for X-Modem or Kermit (The HP-software uses only
Kermit, which is slow to download *big* programms.
Maybe you want to take a look at HP-Shell which is a great programm
with many options.
Hope this is a help for you.
