I am using Rom 1.19-6 on my 49G and have a few questions. If my
calculator is in exact mode, complex mode off, numeric mode off and I
try the following:
SQ(t)-3*t+5=0
't'
QUAD
I get the output "! QUAD Error: No solution found". In complex mode a
solution is found. Why doesn't it automaticly switch/ or prompt to
swich to complex mode?
What is flag 120 and flag 123? has they got something to do with this.
If it is not supposed to prompt a mode switch, when will it prompt a
mode switch (ie. from Real to complex mode?
Furthermore, if I enter the expression SQ(t)-3*t+5=0 into num.slv
solve eqution menu and try to solve the eqution, the result is
1.50000002552 in Real mode and 1.49999998132 in Complex mode. Both
answers wrong, although it is the real part of the complex roots. if I
press 'info' after solving 't', it repeats the value found for 't' and
says Extremum. What do I make of that, and why do I get the real part
of the complex root as an answer.
If anybody can shed some light on this I would be glad. sorry if I'm
bothering with simple questions.
Some time ago I e-mailed some people on this group the pdf-processing
program, Could the people who still need it/have not yet received it
please just drop me an e-mail before the weekend, I'll send it again
on Saturday.

Flag 123 should be set, but I suspect it doesn't work for all commands -
most though.
The numeric solver is not meant to find roots - just unknown variables. If
you want to find roots numerically you have to enter the coefficients as
vectors, after choosing 'solve poly' from the num solv menu.
Why bother though, just use the symbolic solve on the equation and it will
find the roots, imaginary part and all.
