Hi Ibrahim,
This is not possible directly as the HP50G uses a different IR protocol to the HP48 series. Instead what I do is use the RS232 cable that Eric Rechlin developed for the HP50G (see
http://commerce.hpcalc.org/serialcable.php ) & via Kermit mode (both calculators set to serial wire transfer). This is not as convenient as IR but faster.
You will need an original or later version of the HP48 serial cable to connect to the HP50G cable so that both ends can plug into their respective calculator but not a null modem.
A word of caution though, due to significant differences between these calculators, I believe system RPL programs will not be compatible & even some User RPL programs (that use specific pointers etc) will cause the calculators to "crash". For these reasons I mainly use this link to transfer simple things like equations. Also, recommend you back your calculators up on a computer before you try anything.
Another thing you can do is use your PC as an intermediate device & use the Conn4x transfer software as a way of storing/converting programs before installing them on the other series calculator. For this you will need the standard HP50G USB cable & a cable for the HP48 (original serial type if you have a port on the PC or the aftermarket USB type - see Ebay).
Cheers,
Michael
