On the HP Prime, I want to be able to store certain equations that I use routinely and then insert them as expressions in the SOLVE application.

Let's say I create a variable in Home to contain the pythagorean theorem:

Pyth:='A^2+B^2=C'

Then I want to go to the SOLVE app and in expression E1 I enter "Pyth" (without the quotes).

Instead of parsing the equation I previously stored in the variable Pyth, when I enter the "Num" view instead of getting inputs for "A", "B", and "C", I get one input box labeled "Pyth" with the value 0.

The truly diabolical part is this process also deletes the contents of "Pyth" and replaces it with a zero!

Is this functionality deliberate, or am I screwing something up? It would be nice to be able to store various commonly used equations in my own variables and pull them up to be solved in the SOLVE application.

Thanks

Ryan,

If you enter on the command line

E2:=Pyth

and then open the app, you get wht you want

You can use whichever of the En function holders that takes your fancy, not only
E2

As a follow up, you need to enter Symb view and select the function for it to be
visible in Num view. Alternatively you can use CHECK(n) on the command line
after which you can enter Num view directly.
If you plan to do this a lot you may want to add CHECK to a User key, or make a
small programme to do both things in one go.

Thank you so much, Terje, that worked. Did I miss a discussion of this in the user manual somewhere?

CHECK is in the manual. The other was just a hunch based on issues others
have reported in the HPMUSEUM Forum. Nice it resolved the issue.
