It's called HMS on the HP48. Press left-shift 4, NXT.
The middle two menu keys are what ye seek. Bonus:
You can also do direct addition and subtraction of
numbers in DMS format with the HMS+ and HMS- commands.

Former Casio user?

HP's style uses programmable one-step conversion functions,
rather than buttons you must press multiple times while
entering each value (and if you press at the wrong time
or not enough times you get a wrong result).

Enter a single numeric value containing everything packed together:

dd.mmss..... then HMS-> (left-shift TIME NXT menu) converts to pure
degrees (hours/minutes/secs is the same as degrees/minutes/secs).

->HMS naturally converts in the opposite direction
(as opposed to the Casio button, which only manually displays,
but does not convert the value for further use in a program).

Further interesting facts may be found in the manual (Appendix G).
