Since a couple of days my hp48sx has problems with all the keys on the
right side. Seems to be a contact problem, because bending the whole
calculator slightly while pressing a key sometimes got it working.
warranty is expired, and hp wants a lot of money for a repair. They have
fixed costs. A repair costs almost as much as a new hp48gx. (about 75%)
I saved all the data, and want to open up the housing. Buthow ????
There are no screws to be found under the rubber feet, and none in the
battery compartment or the extension slots. I don't want to break it open.
How am I supposed to get it open ? I am pretty sure that some contact lube
(WD40) at the right place will make it work like new again.
Any hints would be appreciated.
Looking foreward to replies. Bye, Stefan Ruhl
Look for files like open48.howto.48 at stuttgart (hardware-dir). I also
remember a file where someone described opening his G, called something like
256g... Basically, what you do is remove the tin keyboard overlay, then
drill a few holes to destroy some plastic connections, then snap it open.
But in your case it might be enough to get the tin overlay off (be careful,
though, don't bend it too much, you can't get a new one (X-ept fer 75% o' de
price o' a GX!))
