Hello All,

Anyone interested in Kermit communications for HP48 series calculators on MacOSX? If so then you might want to try my new Hoppi application that I've just made available at

http://bitbucket.org/cloudycat/hoppi/

Its main feature is that it offers full support for the HP48's Transfer program, so that the entire file transfer process can be controlled from the calculator.

More details are given in the README file shown on the above page. If you want to download it then go to the downloads tab and get the appropriate disk image.

Any feedback is appreciated, either here in reply to this post or at the email address given in the README.

Thanks,
Paul

Hello,

Would you mind sharing some screen shots please?
The project looks interesting, many HP48 users always ask about Mac transfer programs.

Are you located in USA?

Thanks,
-Steve.

There are actually a couple of .tiff images in the Mercurial repository (I haven't quite got round to writing the help documentation yet). Click on the Source tab and navigate to the doc/ directory, there you will find images for the main window and also the packet logger window (which is a transcript window showing packets as they come and go -- very useful for debugging).

I should really apologize for not having the help documentation ready and available, but to be honest if I'd waited for that then this project might never have been released at all -- there are not enough hours in the day to do everything! Hopefully the software is intuitive enough to use without detailed documentation.

No, I'm in the UK.

It's now also working with my hp49g+ over USB, so will hopefully work with all 48/49/50-series calculators. I've bumped the version to 1.0 and there are binaries for both PPC and Intel Macs on the Downloads tab at the above page.

Famous last words...

It seems that sometime in the last couple of days part of it has stopped working on my hp49g+. To be more specific, the "Remote PC files" function in the "Transfer..." app is now sending gibberish instead of its usual "DIR /W" command. From my limited testing I'm 90% convinced that it is the calculator that is at fault, not my software, but so far I have been unable to figure out what change on the calculator caused this to happen.

Does anybody else see this behaviour? Has anybody any idea what might be happening?

Paul, Hoppi has also been confirmed to work with the Silicon LABS RS232 to USB chip. A few buyers of the HP48 to USB Cable have tested it and works good. Thank you for sharing this software.

Regards,
-Steve.
