HP has decided that even though I spent $2,000.00 for a laptop I can't be
trusted to fiddle with the settings in the BIOS. So, they have deactivated
just about every possible setting in the Pheonix BIOS. I want to be able to
set memory timins, enable PAT and use PC3200 SODIMM chips but can't do
anything but set boot device and afew other nonsense settings.

With the problems I had with HP a few years back, I'll never buy another
one. Bad customer service. I had to call long distance and sit on the
phone with them for hours and they still never fixed my prob. Was a bad
sound card that went bad from short in speaker wire on first day of
purchase. Spent hours tracking down that one too. I asked them if they
could call me back or give me an 800 number, and they refused. Finaly took
it to Best Buy and they fixed the problem...no muss, no fuss. I kept
telling them I thought it was related to the short in the wire issue, but
they just wanted to run up my phone bill. And yes, it was still in
warrenty.
