raw disk device

Olá Pessoal, gostaria de saber um pouco mais sobre o assunto acima,
tenho muitas duvidas sobre o raw device, gostaria de saber de como
criar? para criar um raw device, tenho que criar em um disco inteiro?
ou pode ser em uma partição?, o meu objetivo nesse assunto, é que
vou instalar um banco de dados informix, e é recomendação da IBM,
trabalhar com Raw Device.

Not that I have an answer, but this seems to be the rough translation
of the questions above:

Ol? Staff, would like to more know a little on the subject above, has
many doubts on raw device, would like to know of as to create? to
create one raw device, I have that to create in an entire record? or
it can be in one parti??o, my objective in this subject? what I go to

All a raw device is, is a partition that has no filesystem on it - you don't
format the raw device. Create a partition, and give that path to Informix
for it's data instead of a filesystem mounted path - like
/dev/vgdba/rlvinformix in HPUX world, instead of /home/informix.
