I have inherited an HP9000 E35 Unit. It currently has HP Release A.B9.04
installed on it. I am wanting to install HP-UX 10.10 via external SCSI CD.
However, the unit doesn't recognize it with the boot alt command. How do
I access the CD unit? The E35 apparently never had a CD device attached to
it, thus, I'm assuming that there is not a cdfs type in the kernel. But,
geeze, I should be able to access this SCSI device.

Please respond to wayne.l...@alltel.com
as well as to this newsgroup.

Thanks in advance,

In article <01bdaac3$cadd7e60$2a27a8c0@computer>,
How is the CDROM connected to your system? If it is Via the rear SCSI port on
the MFI/O check your address on the alternate boot path. It should be
56/52.2(CDROM ID).0
Also check for proper termination on your external CDROM. You can also boot to
ISL and type ISL>ODE RUN MAPPER to see if it shows up there.

Thanks for the advise. I got my brain back and simply went into the old
9.x sam interface and found the address of the CD device. Yes, it was
hooked up to the rear SCSI port. I then simply did a boot 56/53.x.x and
off it went. Now I am needing 3Gig more space. Always something...

Thanks,
