has anyone ever had problems installing HP autoloaders with NT 4.0?

any good resolutions?

we always experience problems installing these devices.

anyone got a good step-by-step procedure?

what backup app have you bought?....and have you checked their HCL (Hardware
Compatibilty List)
..then the manual is a good place to check...

(Microsfts backup applet ntbackup.exe does not support loaders)

we're using backupexec 8.x

i've been told you need to install TWO drivers!...... one for the device and
one for the loader inside..... true?

yup!..two drivers is correct

but veritas "hardware wizard" will install both..work slow and be patient..
..also in order for the bar code reader in the "1/9" to operate youll need
the "loader/library option" from veritas
"basic loader support" in BENT wont be able to identify bar codes or do
"quick inventory"..

keep in mind that veritas could have trouble to stream the tape drive
15MB/sec, disks are typically too slow, however the LTO mech will vary speed
dynamically between 6,1-15MB/sec.. a very good thing to reduce
"shoeshining"..and wear..
hp omniback ii is a better choice for high speed backup, becuase of its
tapeinterleaving/multiplexing capability.. just like all the other
enterprise class backup apps on the market..omniback ii is better than
BENT..and often cheaper too..client agents are free..and barcode support is
free for example
