Coupon was sent 6/18 to MS and I got win98 yesterday (7/9).

That is pretty good

Strange, I just got a letter from Microsoft telling me that the Velo500 was
not an acceptable handheld for the offer. I wonder if they randomly reject
these offers to see if people pursue them? After I called the help desk
they seemed to think it was strange that the coupon was rejected.

Goods news for you. I sent my coupon a day later and still waiting. Based
upon your experience I will anxiously await my upgrade to WIN98 the early
part of next week. Thanks for the info.

I sent my coupon in several weeks ago, and just received a rejection
letter last week. It said that my HP 620LX color HPC with "Windows CE 2.0"
prominently displayed on the box -- does not qualify.

The MS help desk had to open an "issue" for me, and they haven't gotten
back to me now in 4 days. I'm somewhat irritated over it needless to
say... I would think they have a comprehensive list of qualifying
devices. I would also think they'd resolve something so easy sooner than
this.

Same thing happened to me with an NEC Mobile Pro 750C. My conversation with
the MS guy suggested the MP750 is too new and wasn't on their "list". He said
they'd have to see how many other MP750 requests come in to determine if
they'd make an exception.

I'm gonna wait a few weeks and rsvp with MS again. After that...who knows....

The offer was extended to WinCE devices to receive the free upgrade of
Win98.
How can MS take the position that NEC MobilePro 750C is not a WinCE device?
If they are suggesting that NEC does not qualified then they should have
included a specified list of devices. Why confuse the consumer? They should
be grateful there are loyal customers supporting their products and new
technology (WinCE 2.0).

What is the problem Microsoft? Are you trying to discourage people from
buying NEC products?

I got my win98 with a coupon that I printed from their web site. OfficeMax
didn't even know what I was talking about, and they didn't have the coupon.

I also purchased HP620LX and my submission went fine.
