For those who knew him from CDC or Ames and elsewhere:
Dave was found dead in his home.
Cause of death has yet to be determined (autotopsy to be performed).

Dave was a quiet friend of Usenet and was trying to get NNTP back to NASA Ames.
He was possibly NASA's best mover and shaker for open source in NASA
even working with Contracts to get the right terminology wording in
buying our Crays, Convexen, and other systems. He was also active in
our employee union and computer security.

Dave Tweten's memorial will be held Tuesday Dec. 6 at Ames at the NAS facility
at noon. It's a potluck. If you know Gina at the NAS, or other contact
ask them for badging. I will be in Hawaii at a different memorial at
about the same time. I will not be able to badge you (I may be able to
point you to a contact who can). The plan is to plant trees in honor
to those who died from the facility.
