Here is a Christmas present for you: CDC Cyber mainframes are back!

The just released Desktop Cyber Emulator version 1.0 emulates a
typical CDC Cyber mainframe and peripherals. This release contains
sources for the emulator and tools, as well as binaries compiled for
Win98/NT on Intel/AMD PCs. You can download the release from
"http://www.users.bigpond.com/tom-hunter".

The emulator runs the included Chippewa OS tape image (handcoded in
octal by Seymour Cray).

It can also run SMM diagnostics with all the games/toys such as ADC,
BAT, WRM, TEN, TOY, DOG, BBP etc. For copyright reasons I am unable to
supply a SMM tape image. The tape image required is in TAP format, but
I have included the source for a program to read original CDC OS tapes
and create an image in the required format. You might want to try
tapes with MACE, SCOPE, KRONOS or early versions of NOS 1.

Please let me know if you like this emulator and would like to
contribute to its development.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Does it emulate the nifty printers from 1108 days?

How about a C compiler?

We need to be able to test out posts to comp.lang.c that depend on
twos complement arithmetic, to see what they do with ones complement.

Why not use an existing C compiler for a 36 bit ones complement machine?

Because 60 bit ones-complement is bigger and better?

Thanks. Take care, Brian Inglis Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Hi.

wondering if you have a copy of the emulator you wouldn't mind sharing.

Please do!
