Any and all info would be appreciated. Trying to help out a friend.

Ok Thanks. Here is the link to the pictures on my Commodore page.
http://www.n2dvm.com/hardware.html Then click on the
"SuperCardPlus Pics and Manual" link.
Too bad those pictures are a knock off - clone, not the Real Deal. If
I get a chance, I will place some pictures of
a Original OEM made SC+. The first release of the SC+ would only fit
in a 1541, as it did not have the 40-pin ribbon
for remote installation. Instead it fit Directly on top of the socket
where the 6502 processor was after installation
into the SC+ board. But of course the second version with the 40-pin
cable allowed the SC+ to be installed into
virtually any 1541/71 oem/clone drive.
Too bad Jim Drew hasnt gotten off his Dead Ass and dug out all the
original boards and software, he stated over on c64preservation.com
that he has litterally hundreds/thousands of products that he sold
when Utilities Unlimited was open for business. Including and not
limited to tons of SC+ boards and software. Maybe its for the better,
Jim had a hard time keeping up with shipments of products sold, hell
there are as many if not more horror stories compared to the liking of
Maurice the current owner of all the Creative Micro design inventory,
including Jiffy Dos. So it might be a
good thing that these people are not selling anything anymore, and
frustrating people with Vaporware. I actually
back in 1989/90 did actually purchase a SC+ v6.0 from Jim and I did
get it, and it did work.
send me a email if you need D64's Snog was kind enough to fill a bunch
of gaps for me.
>Hello All,
I was e-mailed some disk images .D64 for this supercardplus.
The files can be found at ftp://www.n2dvm.com/Commodore/sc-stuff/
also in that DIR is a file with ALL of the smaller files in one
archive.
If you find these files useful, Please post a reply and let me know
how they worked out for you..
Sharing the wealth......
There are .D64's for Regular Supercard also, If you have a RamBoard or
Non-Plus Supercard you can use the
.D64's without the P in the filenames. Like this file Sc6d1s1.d64 and
Side2 would be Sc6d1s2.d64
also SC5D1S1.D64 and Side2 would be SC5D1S2.D64. The Ram maps out at
$8000 for a Non-Plus, and
maps out at $6000 for a plus, Also a 1571 Ramboard is mapped at $6000,
but you cannot use either software, as
the Non-Plus does not allow you to change the memory location, and the
Plus Hardware is checked by the Plus software, as it has a custom
EPROM on the Supercard Plus hardware.
Strange with Maverick/Renegade you can change the memory location in
the custom copier, or the GCR Nibbler, But I guess Jim was tired of
people using his SW on Ramboard, so he invented the PLUS version.
The Supercard Plus software has the AI copier, it uses so called
parameters to make copies of certain programs, and if needed it can
sector edit the backups to make them work, It takes a little tinkering
to get the AI copier to do exactly what its supposed to but it makes
copies of some of the hardest to backup games. Like California Games.
The Games Winter and Summer Editions, and Legend of Blacksilver, as
with most of the Latest Epyx titles, you will need to slow the drive
down to make good backups, I think Jim Drew said the speed needed to
be at 297.5 to make reliable copies, I also noticed with these backups
you have made, you will need to INITIALIZE your drive to get it to
read the directory, with a Fastload Cart, just send a @I command,
thats AT-EYE, as in INITIALIZE. then load them up.
You will also find that you cannot make MNIB backups from Epyx
originals, this does not compute errr, work. But if you make a Backup
with Maverick, then MNIB your backup to a .NIB file, those work with
the Emulators. It has something to do with re-framing the track to get
the emulators to work. And Maverick does this to the Epyx titles.
People in the know have said, when you make backups with Supercard you
are getting an almost Exact duplicate, where Maverick re-frames the
track data to make backups. So if you are wanting very good backups of
real games/media then Supercard is the trick. But for a complete
solution it would be good to have all of them in your arsenal. Here is
my list of programs that I find most useful.
1. Maverick/Renegade 5.04 with all 12 versions of Parameters disks.
(this can be found easily on the net)
2. Supercard Plus V6.0, previous releases really not needed as its all
incorporated into V6
3. Burstnibbler V1.9 with parallel cable, I use the C128 mode, as BN
supports it, and buffers more tracks at a time
4. Kracker Jax various titles, Elite/Hackers Utility Kit/Shotgun and
parameters vol1-7 (good for older titles)
5. Superkit 1541 V2.0 (has a few great utilities, super fast file
copier. and cool dual drive nibbler, and older parameters)
and not really software, but a good MSD SD-2 Dual drive with Autocopy
roms is great for nibbled-verified copies in a hurry. If you plan on
Adding a Supercard Plus into a drive, get a 1571 and install it along
with your Burst Nibbler, and a speed control, which the 1571 can be
modified to work with And you have a great copier system. Just
remember
that you can use Maverick with any RAM type addon board, but if its in
a 1571 the ram location is $6000 even the Ramboard 1571 is at this
location, but again SCP software needs the real hardware to work. So
with any SC you can use Maverick with any option that requires 8K ram
installed into your drive.
Both the ramboard1571 and Supercard Plus installed into a 1571 will
require a jumper wire installed from each board to one of the chips
inside the drive. Goto rest in peices for the ramboard stuff, located
here.

Heck you could use a 1541 with a SC as the source and a 1571 with a
SCP installed as the destination, you do not need to modify the source
drive's speed only the destination thats writing the disk back out.
Maverick almost always supports a dual drive scenario, where as
Supercard or Plus version may not support dual drives under all
scenarios.
Have fun, dont burn up any expensive to replace hardware. You really
should understand what you are looking at when you are working inside
of a disk drive, And have some basic electronics knowledge. You need
to know what a PIN is, and more important where PIN-1 is and Where to
install certain connections. you wouldnt want to totally fry your hard
to replace hardware, Heck you might have to send it to somebody who
can install it for you for a cost.
And the Bluebirdpod strikes again with some great tech
information. I have never tinkered with any of this stuff
myself. A guy by the Screenname of "pcollins" in #c64friends on
Newnet IRC network was looking for programs and information about his
supercardplus.
I can do some of the Electronics work but the information above is
a bit over my head. :)
