what the hell is an easter egg?
a bit early aren't we?
The only thing that nettamer is good at is navigating through news
groups. Get doslynx, trumpet newsreader and pegasus mail instead.
Net-Tamer V 1.10.1 - Test Drive
Think of it as a fun thing the programmers put in. You'll need to do
something special to see them.

"Easter Egg" is a hacker term for little surprises hidden in the firmware
or software.
Usually one has to input a specific set of keystrokes and/or reset the
clock/calandar.
Even the old C128 has an Easter Egg that got Fred Bowen (Commodore Engineer
Emeritus) into some hot water.
Entering a (sys call, was it?) displayed a message, "Link arms not make
them" as I recall.
Most Macs have something or other hidden inside them.

An Easter Egg is just what it sounds like. Something hidden that can be
fun to look for and find. The use of the term in relation to items hidden
in software programs indicates the same thing. There is no relationship to
any time of year intended. If you have Sky Travel it is neat to know about
these objects and fun to look for them. I have never looked at the sky
without seeing something other than stars on the horizon. And if a Polar
Bear was wandering near me when I was star gazing I would definitely want
to know it was there!

The call is SYS32800,123,45,6
How did that statement get him in trouble?
You might have noticed that the message says "Herdware". :)
The beancounters at CBM were upset about it. They were afraid that it
would cause (GASP!) "Controversy".
One version I heard was that Fred almost got fired over it.
Fred is a Good Guy! I mentioned on QuantumLink that my CBM mouse was acting
up and I needed to replace some of the mechanical bits inside.
He sent me, gratis, a dead mouse motherboard I could salvage some parts from.
Fixed my mouse up perfectly.
