* Update 4.1*
Changes/clarifications:
- no more combined bids. They're getting to be too much of a pain to
figure out. When you bid from now on, make an individual bid on each item
you want.
- because of this rule change,
-->>all bids on the carts, PRG, and box of 'stuff' disks have been
invalidated<<--
I need to explain why, so you won't all lynch me (well, you will anyway,
but I feel a need to explain):
1) in the case of the 'stuff' disks, the price made a jump because
someone was overcoming a group bid on them and something else. This big
price jump would not have happened if it were not for the group bid rule
2) as for the carts/PRG, the bids on that were a mess because of the
combined bid between some of them and the group package on the carts.
3) if you still don't get it, e-mail me and I'll try to carefully
explain it.
BOTTOM LINE: make new bids, starting from the minimum bid again, if you
want any of these items! Believe it or not, I'm doing this for your own
good!
- finally some items have reached *SOLD* status, and have been removed
from this list.
- if you've sent me email and have not received a response, please try
again. Our mail server spammed this weekend, and I get a lot of mail to
begin with, so it's possible I did not receive your message or I lost it
in all the other stuff I plow through daily...
----------------------
Commodore stuff for sale!
I've discovered that I have way too much Commodore equipment, and I rarely
use it. As I don't relish the thought of having to move it all when I
finally graduate, I am selling it.
This is an auction.
All items are that item only. Any accessories included will be
specifically noted; if none are noted, assume *nothing* else is included.
* new
NO GROUP BIDS! BID ON EACH ITEM, DOWN TO EACH LITTLE 0.50 MAGAZINE
this is to save me lots of pain and stress. thank you for your
cooperation. bitch at me about my constant rule reversals if it makes you
feel better; I promise to read each and every one *before* deleting it.
* end new
The condition of everything is listed, but if you still have questions
about an item feel free to ask. I have a video camera, so can make tiffs
(or gifs or whatever) of items upon request. Note: "worn" means anything
worse than "like new" but better than "falling apart".
Bidders will receive a randomly generated 2-digit bidder number to insure
anonymity and equity.
Prices listed herein are the minimum bid, or if followed by a bidder
number the current high bid.
The whole list will be updated daily (as long as something happens) to
comp.sys.cbm, and rec.games.video.marketplace as well as via e-mail to
current bidders. All current bidders on an item will be informed whenever
a higher bid on that item is received. When two equal bids are received,
the first bid will take precedence, although both parties will be informed
of the condition.
I will consider requests to part out packages, or for
customizations/repairs to equipment before sale.
Items will be marked as sold when no new bids have been received on the
item in 72 hours. The auction ends when all items have been sold, or when it
looks like nothing else is going to sell (moral: bid now or forever hold
your peace).
Minimum bid increment is $0.50 for items < $10, $1 for $10 - $50, $5 for >$50.
All buyers will pay shipping. I will ship US Post Office or UPS, your
choice. I highly recommend (but upon reconsideration will not require)
insurance on hardware to protect buyers from unpreventable DOA conditions
due to manhandling during shipping.
Payment will be prepay via check/money order or COD. I prefer not to
COD--it costs you extra, and takes me longer to get my money.
All sales are final unless item somehow does not match description (fat
chance). Damage in shipping does not count; this is what insurance is
for.
As anal as I may sound, I am flexible. After all, I *am* trying to get
rid of this stuff. Talk to me.
Whoa, is there anything else I forgot? Let me know...
Hardware
--------
All hardware is NTSC. Upon request, I will determine motherboard & ROM
revisions and which chips are socketed.
Commodore SX-64 computer, power cable, keyboard cable, shipping head
protector card. $120 #29
Works. This is the "portable" (I use the term loosely, as it weighs 27
pounds and requires wall power), with built in 64, 1541, and monitor. One
of the flanges on the top of the case that the keyboard/cover latches on
to has broken off, but the keyboard/cover still stays attached. A small
part of the plastic hood on
the keyboard end of the keyboard cable has broken, but the connection is
still firm. The power supply does not supply 9VAC to the user port, but I
would not recommend using a device that draws power on the user port
anyway as the power supply has very little surplus power. Also,
differences in the roms from the regular 64/1541 roms prevent a few
programs from working properly. The drive shipping card is a hand-made
copy of an original.
Commodore 64 computer, Commodore 64 User's Guide, power supply, TV/Game
switch, TV cable, dust cover, original box. $21 #66
Works. Case is missing rubber feet on bottom. User's Guide is worn.
Power supply is repairable type. TV/Game switch has 75 and 300 ohm inputs
and outputs. TV cable is original 10-foot Commodore cable. Box is worn,
contains original foam inserts and cable box.
Commodore 64 computer, power supply, TV cable, original box. $10 #62
Almost works--has one bad RAM chip; I will identify it for you if
desired. When powered up, goes to full BASIC startup screen, but you can
see visual artifacts because of the bad RAM chip. Power supply is
old-style (e.g. has a label on top rather than the molded fins and logo)
Commodore non-repairable brick, P/N 251053-02. TV cable is aftermarket
6-foot (bought at Radio Shack); will substitute similar 12-foot upon
request (I'm including the 6-foot by default as I personally prefer
shorter cables). Box is worn, contains original foam inserts and cable
box.
Commodore 1541 disk drive, 1541 User's Manual, power cable, serial cable,
Test/Demo Disk, shipping head protector card, original box. $20
Works. Newtronics (lever-style) drive mechanism. Shipping card is original.
Commodore 1541-II disk drive, 1541-II User's Manual, power supply, serial
cable, Test/Demo Disk, shipping head protector card. $20
Works. Power supply is original non-repairable brick (though I've never
heard of one going bad). Shipping card is hand-made copy of an original.
Commodore 1541 Disk drive, serial cable, shipping head protector card. $15
Works. Head protector card is hand-made copy of an original card.
Star Micronics NX-1000C printer, serial cable, ribbon, user's manual,
quick reference card, original box with original foam inserts and
accessory box. $20
Works. Printer is a 9-pin dot-matrix. Except for the box, which is worn,
and the ribbon, which is out of ink (I include it so you know what the
ribbon you need looks like), this is all in excellent condition. Includes
all original items that came when I bought it.
Xetec Super Graphix parallel printer interface, Xetec Super Graphics
Utility Disk, Xetec Super Graphics Instruction Manual. $10
Works. Requires cassette port connection for power.
Koala Technologies KoalaPad, KoalaPainter disk. $15 #16
Works. The KoalaPad is a touch-sensitive drawing pad.
Commodore 1660 modem 300, user's manual, audio-to-modem cable,
QuantumLink/Common Sense Program Disk. $5 #62
Works. Case has been hacked (literally; with a hacksaw) to allow it to
fit the SX-64's user port. Bad if you're using the video port rather than
the RF modulator, because the modem uses the SID to generate dialing tones
and needs the audio routed into the modem. This is the version of the
1660 *with* carrier detect capability.
Commodore C2N Datasette, user's manual. $5
Don't know if it works or not. Never seen one die, though... Has had
grounding strap cut from connector (has anyone actually ever used the
grounding strap? I'm curious to know.) Tape compartment cover seems to
be a little loose, doesn't close as easily as it should.
Commodore C2N Datasette. $2.50
Worked the last time I checked it, but that was years ago. Tape
compartment cover missing.
Sega MegaFire control pad. $5
Works. Thumbpad designed for Genesis, but works with 64/Atari as well.
Has start + 3 fire buttons. Each fire button has its own autofire
control: auto/on/off.
RCA-connector TV cable. $0.50
Works. Gray. Aftermarket Radio Shack 12- or 6-foot, depending on which
the purchaser of the 64 with bad RAM wants.
Atari paddles. $0.50 #79
Work. Cap on one controller has broken off and been superglued back on,
so may not stand up to hard twisting at limit of motion.
Bundle o' flaky joysticks. $1 #75
Includes an oft-repaired 500XJ; two original Atari 2600 joysticks with
poorly engineered replacement connectors and missing the black rubber
boots; an Atari 2600 joystick without a connector also missing the black
rubber boot; an unidentified joystick with a fighter stick and buttons on
the base, trigger, and thumb; and a Discwasher Pointmaster. Only the
500XJ is guaranteed to work properly, and that's only most of the time.
Great for historical joystick collectors...
Video jack to audio RCA cable. $0.50
This is the same 1-foot cable that comes with the 1660. Don't know where
I got an extra one. Useful for hooking your 64 audio out to your stereo
(with the addition of a mono->stereo adapter).
Software
--------
Box o' Original Disks (and Dox in another Box): All of these disks are
contained in one of those plastic disk storage boxes. They are in mostly
good shape; a few are warped. As far as I know, they all work; no
guarantees. *Please* make an offer on the whole thing (disk box included)
and get it off my hands! I will only accept offers on individual software
if there is no bid on the whole box. $25 #16
All manuals are original unless otherwise noted.

I also have a box of about 116 disks filled with "stuff" most of which you
could probably get from ftp://watson.mbb.sfu.ca/pub/c64/games. I am
selling it for the disks, not the contents; I just don't have time to
reformat them all. ;-) $5.00
Cartridges:
64 Forth, manual. (Forth programming language) $2.50
Diamond Mine. (great 1 or 2 player game!) $2.50
Centipede. (game, duh...) $2.50
Sea Speller. (Fisher-Price educational, fun in an inane kind of way) $0.50
Logic Levels. (Fisher-Price educational, I can't even figure it out) $0.50
Magic Desk I. (this is the ancient ancestor of things like MS Works, kind
of like the archaeopteryx is the ancient ancestor of the stealth fighter)
$0.50
Also, wonder of wonders, the famous:
Gortek and the Microchips (2 cassettes), manual, and sticker ("badge"
according to box), all in original box with original plastic holder
insert. $1.00 #58
Miscellaneous
-------------
1571 dust cover. $0.50 #58
Commodore paperweight. $0.50
This is homemade; it's what you get when you chop the cables off a
completely dead 64 power supply brick (new-style, with molded fins and
Commodore logo). Just something I did for amusement, really. Heavy.
(And no, I don't really expect to sell this, but sometimes people surprise
me...)
Photocopied manual collection. $5 #14
Of course, I'm only selling this for its value as paper, not for its
content. That would be copyright violation. ;-)
