I have set up a file server with lots of C= goodies on it and the chat is
great! Hope to see you soon. :D
If you need an IRC program, Mirc is a good one. Download it from
http://www.mirc.com/ and once u install it and run it, select the server
"newnet" and the channel is "#CBM8" . Without the quotes of course.
A webpage is in the works and also some other interesting things.

I tend to keep my own personal channels devoid of modwarring or godding.

This is rich coming from the op who kicked off the whole kickban fest,
who was right there supporting Snogpitch's overzealous rule of banning
for whatever reason. You only got jack of it when you were banned
yourself for abusing your op powers on #c64friends.
You're no better than Snog mate, and actually possibly worse. Good luck
with #CBM8 :P
For everyone who doesn't want to be in a channel under the thumb of
KilrPilr or Snogpitch, or rampant crazed retards who get crazy over the
word retard or just about anything else they can jump on and find
offensive to their politically correct whining perspective, come to the
only c64 channel that proudly acknowledges that the c64 community is
over-run by retards!
#c64retards on newnet, I'll assume you're not so retarded you don't
know how to use IRC.
Thanks!
There's no point in getting worked up. It's just IRC.

Last time I tried to login to a C64 related channel was back in 1995 or
1996. It was #c64 on Effnet.
I remember saying something along the lines of 'Boy the C=64 was a
great machine, too bad it died out'. Wasn't
trying to troll or anything.. it was 1995 or 1996 after all and lets
face it, the C=64 wasn't really viable anymore. Nothing
bad with the C=64 it was just well, too old at that point. But
obviously there was still the hobby scene, but there's always that.
I was just commenting on what a great machine it -was-.
Anyway some op got pissed at that and kicked me, So that was that.
Never really went back.
You'd get sarcasm from most of the channels i op for a line like that. =-)

If you want a more complete IRC program, go with GAIM. It supports AOL
Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, and IRC all in one program and it
even has graphical emoticons. And GAIM is available for Windows, Mac,
and Linux.

GAIM's IRC complete? :/
As an IRC user I'd say X-Chat and mIRC are about the best two clients I've
used. Just don't get the official Windows build of X-Chat. silverex.info
is a good place to get X-Chat for Windows.
