Eric,
No offense.. But you gotta be nuts.. Those things are selling for less than
half of that price on the average.. And there's no support for them anymore..
Even a brand NEW CMD 40 meg drive can be picked up for that!!

If a 1541 is half a meg, what you're saying is that a 1541 is only worth 5.00

That doesn't jive. A HD drive from LtK is worth moe than 125.

You compare apples with pears.Every 1541 has also a power supply and
other mechanical and electrical equipment that makes it more expensive
than $5.00.A HD becomes cheaper the more space it offers.
Also i think $200 for that HD is ok.
If you or someone else sells a HD around $200 then leave e-mail
to ne...@cs.tu-berlin.de.

I would not pay more than $10.00 for a 1541...

Then you will be waiting a few years.

Sorry, but Hard Drives for the Commodore cost more than drives for IBMs.

A used 40Megger for the IBM can be found over the Net for around $80 to $100.
Add a controller for $20, and already you are talking $100-$120.

With a 64, there is a seperate controller as well as making the machine an
intelligent hard drive (as Commodore devices are intelligent drives).

Recently I bought a 40 meg ICT hard drive for $250. I admit that was probably
the upper extreme, but still, $200 is a medium price for a hard drive...
Especially a 40 Megger.

Commodore drives won't be coming down in price for a while as there is a
limited number of drives currently. Supply vs. Demand.

Sorry to be off-topic, but, I would be very surprised to see a used
IBM 40meg HD (IDE) selling for $80 to $100... the upper end for used
40meggers is around $50. You can get a brand new 350meg drive for $200
these days...

Ok I'll offer you $175.00 for the hard drive. Do you have any idea of how
many hours of use are on it? Does the Lt. Kernal support the burst transfer
mode?

No burst mode, but then again it doesn't need it. It's not a serial device.
It plugs into the expansion port. And as far as speed goes, it will load a
104 block file in about 2.6 seconds. fast enoguh for me.

When I had the Lt. Kernal drive, it was capable of filling memory in
1 second. I really liked those machines.
