I am looking for a source of replacement IC's that were made by
Commodore. The MOS 5717 which is used in the 1351 mouse is the specific
one I am looking for. If you know a source, please e-mail me at
n1...@nai.net.
Thanks

I don't see a listing for that particular chip, however, the most recent
Jameco catalog (1-800-831-4242) lists about 19 chips for the Commodore
computers. Some of these are listed as "sale" or "closeout" items.
Part numbers include:

WD1770 (Floppy Disk Controller for 1571), 6502, 6502A, 6510, 6520A, 6522,
6526, 6526A, 6532, 6551, 6551A, 6560, 6567, 6581, 8564, 8722, 82S100PLA
(Programmable Logic Array for C-64/128 = 906114-01), 901225-01 (Kernal ROM
for C-64), 901226-01 (BASIC ROM for C-64), and 901229-05 (upgrade ROM for
1541).

The most expensive of these is $17.95 (6581) and several are $14.95 (6526,
6526A, 6510).

Short of buying spare computers for parts, this looks like a good source.

You must be one of those who has a non-working 1351 and can't bear to throw
it away. I understand, cuz have one like that too, and I'm certain that
it's the chip, but where to find that chip? Good luck.

I guess that You have a broken mouse! Be sure that the led:s and
phototransistors work and that they are perfectly alligned with each other.
I had a bad mouse and it turned out to be a led that had moved out of its
place.
