Hi! I am looking for a program to create self-extracting archives on a C64 and a C128. Where can I find a good one?

Your request is ambiguous-- do you want to *create* the sfx *on the
c64*, or do you want something that just *extracts* on the c64?

Exomizer does the latter.

As for the former, I don't know what will do that, but I suspect it
would be very slow and not get good compression in comparison to
something like Exomizer.

I want to create an archive file that can decompress itself to a real C64 disk.

Take a look at the link I gave you. If Exomizer doesn't work the way
you need it to, it comes with source, maybe you can start there. The
hardest part of the job has been done -- developing compression that
is efficient and extracts quickly on 65xx processors.

In article <4257bd4a-3a92-4625...@googlegroups.com>,
Just wave you magic wand and say "Compressicus Maximus" and then
"Extractus 64-oreous". ;-)

I have and in fact use Exomizer. However, it doesn't fit this need. I need to compress *multiple* files and decompress them to disk.

Okay. Now, which of these can I use to create a self-extracting archive, i.e. a program which contains the archive and decompresses its contents to the disk upon running?

I believe CS-DOS had the archiver as well as the SFX creator that you need
to do what it is that you want to do.
