Hi
I am totally new with BeOs - i work in the TV/Movie Production field
in germany.
The BeOs comes with a Harrison-Console - so that's why i "met" BeOS.

So - i have some experience with Linux, installing software, the
terminal etc.

I had a Problem opening the "Network/Preferences". There was an error
saying "net_save_setting" missing. I dont remember exactly i am not in
front of the Machine right now.

It looked to me like some software package was not properly installed
and i thought this might be fixed by installing one or more software
packages.

But i have no clue which these could be, how they are called and where
i can find them. Its BeOs v.5..

If it is necessary i could post the exact error tomorrow.

Any help is appreciated

Luigi

Looks like you have BONE installed. BONE was meant to be a replacement
for the network stack in BeOS. It was never released, but beta versions
were given to some developers. It is possible the OEM had an agreement
with Be to use BONE, or maybe a previous user has found BONE somewhere
and installed it.

Anyway, BONE does not use the same network preferences panel that was
used by the old network stack. Instead, see if you can find Boneyard
under the Preferences menu, and try that. The name might not be that
discoverable, but note that this is prerelease software. :-)
