Introduction to Comp.Sys.Be.Announce

Welcome to comp.sys.be.announce. This is the "news" group of the Be
newsgroup. I am the moderator of the group, Osma Ahvenlampi, here to
try and keep the signal level as good as possible, but that is only
possible with the help of Geof Abruzzi, the backup moderator, and of
course all the great people who have information to share with other
Be users.

This group contains announcements of importance to the Be community.
It contains ONLY announcements. Discussions of the announcements or
the products they concern do not take place here, but rather in
separate groups indicated on the Followup-To: line of the messages.

Announcements can be anything that people may find interesting that
concerns the Be platform, but generally consist of product
announcements, news flashes, software updates, reports of major bugs
or dangerous viruses, and so forth. Possibly the most common use of
the group will be to announce new software available for the BeOS.

Comp.sys.be.announce is a moderated newsgroup. That means that you can
not post directly to it, as you can with most other newsgroups. If you
have an announcement to make, e-mail it to the submissions address,
and one of the moderators will check it over and post it. There is
another message posted regularly that describes how to submit
announcements. If you want to post something, PLEASE read those
directions, or you'll likely just have to fix your post and send it
again. Mail all your announcements to the submissions address of
<be-an...@warped.com>.

The address <be-an...@warped.com> is handled by an automatic e-mail
server. To find out how to use the server, send a message to that
address containing the single word "HELP" (no quotes) as the first
line of the message. In addition to accepting announcements, the
server can provide you with the most recent version of these
admistrative documents.

Product announcements should not evaluate the product. They should
simply list all the important details of its availability, cost and
similar issues. Product reviews will quite likely be welcome in other
Be newsgroups or many of the Be oriented web sites, so if you want to
write a review, consider these channels.

helpful comments, suggestions, or even criticisms, please contact
<be-an...@warped.com>. Do not send submissions to that address.

This file is supposed to be posted every month. Other files posted
regularly are:
