One of SDF's incarnations was an AT&T 3B2/500 that we got through a contact
in Bellcore who was chairing a TR45 subcommittee in the early 90s. At the
time PC UNIX still had not exceed in reliability, speed and capacity that
the 3B2 offered. Plus the fact that it was a 500 and both Charlie Boykin
(killer) and Rich Andrews (jolnet) who were working at SMU at the time had
offered to help with spare parts, custom software and stories helped
strengthen the historical connection between killer and SDF. After all,
one of the points of SDF's initial mission was to fill the gap which was
created with the sudden loss of killer.

The 3b2/500 will be on exhibit with:

* Two Telebit TB+ modems (one calls the other every 5 minutes, or you can
use 'cu sdf' to experience the PEP for yourself)
* Two AT&T 605 green phosphor terminals (we used to have TTY4425s)
* A TTY5620 version 1 (DMD, dot mapped display, for layers; a precursor to X)
* an XM with three 5.25MB full height 153mb ESDI drives
* A complete manual set
* Microsoft Word manual/software to gawk at (its a requirement of the exhibit)
* Lots of original games, interactive software and an internet connection.
* Free SDF badge pins, SDF's annual music compilation CD (volumes I-III),
stickers and more.

The IP address will be posted on Saturday morning in the motd on
sdf.lonestar.org. Everything in the exhibit is meant to be used and will be
functioning.

Here is what SDF looked like at VCF6. The exhibit will be nearly the same:
