Help!
I have gotten hsmoda6 from Umich and have problems setting it up
in my TT (4+4) and/or on my 1040STf (16 MHz,4MB) to do anything higher than
19.2. Both computers are not modified in the modem hdwe.
Setter.prg (gem) does not want to run correctly. It comes up with
a set of long strings that extend off to the right. The text has
"cr"s and pictures of a bell embedded in the text which I assume are meant
to be CR/LF which don't get translated right.
Is there a version of setter.prg (gem) somewhere that might
transfer better (without the bugs I seem to have) on the internet?
Setter.ttp has English only in the "enter j/n/y/n" dialog,
NOT in what the line is supposed to do. I studied German years ago, but
it it was too out of date and rusty to follow the script.
Once I get it set up, (I assume I'll get it to work someday)
Do I need to run from modem2? What happens to my older programs
like Uniterm that only understand Modem1, with baud rates from
19.2 down to 300??? I can't use connect, because it doesn't have some of the
features I need to talk to my VAX, which uses true VT220, and Tek 4014,
and allows me to set up a complex script for dialing in, and to change
meanings of keys for my VAX, and gives me a 50 line mode??
Do I have to switch cables every time I want to use one program
or another??
For a program like STiK, do I tell it to use e.g. 110 if I
really want 38.4?
I now have a 14.4 modem. What is the highest speed I can use
practically with the TT and with the 1040?
Do I load all three, mfp, mfp_tt, and scc in the auto for the TT
after fixing?
What do I do with the modem.cpx? does it change?

Forget it. HSmodem totally screws up with a TT. Whatever port you're
using, it doesn't matter.

What serial port do you use? There should be no problems with Modem 2 or
Serial 2.
On Serial 2 the maximum speed without hardware modifications should be
115200 bps, modem 2 should do with 76800 maximum speed. Some modems do not
support the speeds higher than 38400 at modem 2. But at least 38400
should be possible.
I tried both ports and both work!

What terminal software do you use?

I don`t know about your experiences, but it works fine with my TT. If
your Modem 2-port is modified to do speed rates same as Serial 2, you
even need HSMODA06 to make your system supporting these changes.

high speed rates of the SCC-ports
Modem 2: 38400/76800
Modem 2 modified: 38400/57600/115200
Serial 2: 38400/57600/115200

I find this a bit hard to beleive , okay I do not have a TT but know those
that do any they have not stated the above.

Perhaps If I may be so bold as to suggest that you were using either incorrect
configs or using a program that did not agree with using othere than modem1
( I have seen this problem with amoungst others STFAX) . It is fixable though
using options in scc.prg in v6 M1EMU=y)

Surely not. I know several people who use HSModem with a TT very
successfully. In fact I was shown how to set it up by someone who

Was this some much older version than HSMODA06? I've used it successfully on
modem 2 (MSTe) since HSMODA04.

This is not right. The TT allows 230400 on serial 2.
