I have asked a few questions about getting atari games, emulators etc, but I
think I am missing a key component as well..

Atari800win seems to have a screen file asking for the location of the ROM.
I thought that was the game file itself, but now I'm thinking you need an
Atari ROM as well. Any ideas as to where I can get one.

If I am wrong, what the heck do you actually enter on the Atariwin800 Rom
Image screen??

eg: what exactly does this mean?

The XL/XE button locates the ROM image of the Operating System for XL/XE
machines. The file must be 16 KB long.

Thanks kindly :)

xf25.zip under the heading Original XL ROM contains the following roms:

inflating: DEMOS2.XFD
inflating: XF25.EXE
inflating: ATARIBAS.ROM
inflating: ATARIOSB.ROM
inflating: ATARIXL.ROM
inflating: XF25.DOC
inflating: DOS25.XFD
inflating: DEMOS1.XFD
inflating: MYDOS45D.ATR

ATARIOSB.ROM is the rom used when emulating atari 400/800s
ATARIXL.ROM is used when you want to emulate one of the xls

here is a link:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=40606&package_id=32947

you will have to figure out exactly where to put them so the emulator can find
them, or change the config file to point to where they are located. Good Luck!

After the pain of setup is done there is a wealth of programs to run!

Setting up Atari800Win is one of the easiest emulators to configure.
You don't know setup pain until you've tried to set up Daphne or
MAMEwah...

Oh, and bringing my post back on topic, one example is my last box I
got atari800 going with svga to get great fullscreen going. This was
before the SDL version was out. Yikes, kernel recompile, figuring out
kernel boot commands for my onboard video etc, svglib-helper kernel module, yikes! Just use SDL now.
Was Now I just use SDL!
