I came across this and thought it was interesting and informative. I'm not sure how discussion worthy it is but here it is, nonetheless. Enjoy!

There are a few of these tear down instruction out on the internet. The one thing they all seem to overlook on the IIc is the catch tab on the front of the IIc case halves. It is located just about in the center and needs to be gently released...I use a little plastic case spreader tool. Also when you lift the the upper casing toward the back of the IIc you have to also release a couple of catch tabs back there.

Over all the Apple II line were all easy to take apart and tinker with....I thing Woz wanted them that way.

You just need a #2 phillips screwdriver.

After removing the 6 screws from the //c, place it on a solid surface with handle down in it's normal 'kickstand' position. Lift the rear of the //c 3-4 inches above the surface, then drop, allowing the handle to pop and release the rear tabs. Remove the top cover by tilting it toward you. No other tools necessary.
