Hello,
I have a Apple IIGS Rom 3 unit,6 megs of ram and ZipGS 1.02. So far I
have a 32MHZ Crystal, 64k of high speed SRam, and the WDC14.
It seems stable at 12MHZ right now, but how far can I push it? What is
the fastest speed knowen on it? Should I add the 74HC00 chip? It is
time to give this thing a 56K modem, and see what kind of damage it can
do on the net.

Thanks,
Dana

A 32mhz crystal only gives you 8mhz. To get 12mhz you need a 48mhz
oscillator
The fastest ZipGS I've heard of is 16mhz, most cards top out at 12 to
15mhz
though.

See how far you can get without changing it. Some cards don't seem to
require
the change. Also the chips soldered in so there's always a small risk in
changing
it.

If you have a 32 MHz crystal then the ZipGS is running at 8 MHz, not 12
MHz. You would need a 48 MHz crystal to run it at 12 MHz. (CPU speed
times four.)

I believe that some people have achieved 16 MHz, but I haven't heard of
anything faster than that.
