Hello, everyone,

As my next project, I am trying to connect a SNES (specifically the
Japanese Super Famicom) to my IIGS RGB monitor. I have already
purchased an Apple IIGS SCART cable, through Roger Johnstone. As far as
I can tell, all I will need to do is attach the cable to the monitor,
and use a SCART coupler to attach it to the Super Famicom's SCART
output. Should this present any issues?

I've read somewhere that a resistor and capacitors are needed to produce
a stable image. Are they necessary?

Thank you, in advance,

Clyde

The //gs SCART cable is for connecting a //gs computer to a display with an RGB SCART input.

Honestly, I would not try what you are suggesting for two major reasons:

1. As far as I know, the only thing that can drive a //gs RGB monitor is a //gs.

2. SCART to HDMI converters exist. There are reviews for such products on YouTube.

Whoops, sorry, I was probably thinking of the //gs not being able to drive a Commodore Amiga RGB monitor. (Maybe tried that 25 years ago?)

You might want to visit sites such as retrorgb.com

You can hook your IIgs monitor to any 15khz source like a vintage computer (Atari ST, Amiga...) or game console (if you have the RGB cable). If you can go to a SCART TV (if you are using the RGB signals, not the composite one), you can use the IIgs color monitor to display the picture. A friend of mine had connected (at the time) his video tape recorder so he could watch moovie directly on the IIgs monitor in his room (the tape recorder output was a SCART cable).

I've been using a Commodore 1084S monitor on my IIgs for over 20 years
now, I believe. :)

I'm using a //gs monitor with my Apple //e and a RGB card (EVE Feline).
I found a special cable for this with one of my //e. Somebody tried to
make the same cable from pinout I gave him without success...

This cable also work for any SCART 15hz system, like a SNES.
